I watch, an observer from the window above.

She sits, tail curled neatly around her

On top of the neighbour’s conservatory.

She stares into the fading evening light.

Does she watch the swifts high above?

Is she looking towards the hills?

Is she wondering how long it would take her to scamper from here to there?

Is she looking at the midges in the middle distance, thinking

“I could eat you, and you, and you… and oh yes, you.”?

I don’t know.  But I do wish I was as contented as she is.

Griffinicious Galileo Morley-Biggs (asleep, not stealing prawns)

Juicy, pink prawns.  Fat and succulent.

He spots them as I take them from the fridge.

Griffin was put on this earth to snaffle prawns.

And besides… I kind of like cat fur in my lunch.
